When designing the Klipsch KW-120-THX(M) subwoofer, Klipsch applied its theater experience to bring the same powerful, deep-driving bass to the comforts of home.The world’s finest theater operators choose Klipsch cinema systems because they deliver the full impact of the most intense action movie soundtracks without sacrificing musical definition.

To achieve intense, deep-bass output in large rooms, this high-performance subwoofer that is part of the THX Ultra2 family features a 12-inch, long-throw Cerametallic driver and front-firing port. It includes a 15-pound motor structure and a 20-foot Monster THX Ultra cable with Neutrik Speakon connectors. The subwoofer is driven by an external 1-kilowatt amplifier (KA-1000-THX) tailored to its characteristics for maximum output and reliability with extremely low distortion.

The subwoofer’s enclosure has the dado and rabbet construction used in Klipsch professional speakers for structural integrity.

Finished in Galaxy black with an aluminum fascia, the Klipsch KW-120-THX(M) also features top-of-the-line internal wiring to ensure that every roar or explosion is heard with complete clarity.

Construction is to the highest standard, with a professional grade rabbet and dado locked panel cabinet and premium components throughout to ensure sonic purity, consistency, and reliability. Each subwoofer enclosure has a
NL2 SpeakOn™ input for correct, secure amplifier connections, and each KW-120-THX is supplied with a 20-foot THX Ultra certified speaker cable terminated with NL2 SpeakOn connectors.

The Klipsch KW-120-THX is a compact, high-output, low-distortion passive subwoofer suitable for use in any high-performance home-theater or music system. A pair of KW-120-THXs driven by a KA-1000-THX amplifier meet all requirements for THX Ultra2 certification. Although a single KW-120-THX does not satisfy the stringent THX Ultra2 maximumoutput specification, which assumes a very large room, it is more than adequate for a typical small or medium-sized room. Either configuration is capable of intense, powerful deep-bass reproduction, with no loss of clarity or detail at even the highest levels demanded by modern action-movie soundtracks. The
cabinet is front-ported to maximize installation flexibility.

Klipsch KA-1000-THX 120V Ultra 2 Subwoofer Amplifier

The Klipsch KA-1000-THX full-featured Class D amplifier, which can be conveniently located near the rest of the installation’s electronics, has a built-in, defeatable, low-pass crossover and level control, boundary-gain compensation switch, completely variable phase control, and an auto power function. This high-performance amplifier has a massive toroidal power supply that is capable of delivering 1000-watts into a 4 ohm load. It can also support two high performance subwoofers and has a left and right RCA pass-through.

Finished in black with a machined aluminum front panel and knobs, the KA-1000-THX uses professional style NL2 Speakon outputs for the high current transfer of power to the subwoofer.

Designed exclusively for use with Klipsch KW-120-THX subwoofers, the KA-1000-THX is a THX Ultra2 certified monoblock power amplifier capable of 500 watts continuous output into 8 ohms (a single KW-120-THX subwoofer, for example) or 1,000 watts continuous into 4 ohms (two parallel connected KW-120-THXs). This full-featured Class D amplifier, which can be conveniently located near the rest of the installation’s electronics, has a built-in, defeatable, low-pass crossover and level control, boundary-gain compensation switch, completely variable phase control, and an auto power function.

It incorporates front-panel controls for level, crossover frequency, phase, and room-gain compensation. The crossover can be bypassed to feed the amplifier directly from the subwoofer output of an A/V preamplifier, processor, or receiver. Line-level input and output connections are via gold-plated left/right RCA jacks. The amplifier has two parallel-wired speaker outputs with NL2 SpeakOn jacks for correct, secure cable connections.

Convenience features include a selectable signal-sensing auto-on/off circuit, a front-panel main power switch and LED status indicators for crossover and level control operation. Matching the look of Aragon home-theater components, the Klipsch KA-1000-THX has a black anodized, grained-aluminum front panel with aluminum control knobs. Premium electronic components are used throughout for sonic purity and reliability.
