NAD C 427 Stereo AM FM Tuner
FM remains one of the most reliable and best sounding mediums for hassle-free music listening and the NAD C 427 makes listening to the radio both smooth and enjoyable. There’s nothing worse than bad reception when it comes to listening to radio. The harsh crackling sound of static can ruin the most sophisticated of systems, ultimately turning listeners away from the nearly 100-year-old medium. Thankfully, NAD has created a solution that will adequately deliver quality reception. When scanning through different stations, the C 427’s Auto Search will automatically stop at the strongest radio signal it encounters; the FM Mute feature removes inter-station noise, allowing only the strongest and clearest stations to come through. While keeping track of what stations you’ve programmed can be tricky, the C 427 actually stores all presets information, even when unplugged. With great reception and ease of use, the C 427 heightens all the things that make radio great, resulting in a gratifying experience.
Loads of Presets
With 40 presets available you can store all your favourite radio stations. These presets can be any combination of AM and FM stations. To avoid having to scroll through 40 presets, the C 427 skips any that have not been programmed (left empty), so you can quickly access all your favourite stations.
Instead of littering the front panel with buttons and features that are hardly ever used, the C 427 concentrates on convenience in daily operation. The RDS limits itself to the RDS PS and RT function, both of which enhance ease of operation. The RDS PS (Program Service) will automatically indicate the name of the radio station on the display, e.g., “BBC R1,” so you will always know exactly what station you are listening to. With its four-line graphic display, you always see all the available information. Preset information is stored in the C 427’s non-volatile memory, which means it will remember all of its preset information even if the unit has been unplugged.
Auto Search automatically stops at the next strong radio signal it comes across and optimizes tuning. Weaker radio stations can be tuned into manually. Stations that are quiet in Mono but noisy in Stereo can benefit from the “Blend” feature that narrows stereo separation and lowers noise. FM Mute eliminates inter-station tuning noise and only allows strong and clear stations to emerge from the silent background. Although AM can never reach the quality of any FM transmission, the C 427’s AM section retains excellent clarity together with the lowest possible background noise. We have carried forward our highly sensitive RF Front End for cleaner reception in fringe areas, plus noise is extremely low across the audio spectrum.
The NAD C 427 also offers features to get the maximum out of the airwaves. The MOS-FET RF Front End design together with high quality components and careful PCB layout guarantees excellent sensitivity with low intermodulation distortion to provide a quiet and musically satisfying performance. We also have one of the most intuitive user interfaces in the market utilizing a 24-position rotary encoder knob to more quickly tune stations or select preset stations. All functions are available via the included IR Remote Control.
Whether you are looking for excellent performance, ease of use or the convenience of RDS, the C 427 offers all these with the value to high performance ratio for which NAD is so renowned.
NAD C 268 Stereo Power Amplifier
NAD C 268 as with every amp in the NAD Classic Series, has been carefully thought through with all the possible use cases and strategically chosen for the most essential of features. With selectable balanced inputs, the NAD C 268 is a perfect pair for high-end preamps and processors. These inputs include a trim control useful for matching with other components, or for use in bi-amping speakers. A line out to allow further addition of power on the same channel for extra speakers or subwoofers. On top of all this connectivity is a bridge switch that turns the C 268 into an amazingly powerful Monobloc amplifier.
You can also pair the C 268 with the NAD C 368 Hybrid Digital DAC Amplifier, and with both units bridged for mono, 300 watts per channel of distortion-free sound become available for your listening pleasure. The NAD C 268’s auto-sense feature with selectable threshold is perfect for automating complex systems or for hiding the amp out of sight in a cabinet. Included with the C 268 is a ground lug that is very useful for eliminating ground loops and noise in complex multi-unit systems.
Getting the Basics Right
As a member of NAD’s Classic Series, the NAD C 268 delivers a richly satisfying sonic performance thanks to its “music-first” features. Accurate channel balance, proper input and output impedance characteristics, and low noise circuits all come together within this one stereo power amplifier. Additionally the C 268’s line inputs, both balanced and single-ended, can accommodate all kinds of analogue source components by offering ideal input impedance traits with linear ultra-low-noise buffer amplifiers to prevent any sonic degradation caused by unfitting loading of the source device.
The overall design of the NAD C 268 is very linear over a wide bandwidth, providing dramatic advances over previous models with consistent performance into all speaker loads.
The power supply of the C 268 is capable of nearly 200 watts continuously and over 500 watts instantaneously, allowing for short term musical transients. NAD’s innovative asymmetrical PowerDrive fully utilizes every last watt available with its vast reserves of dynamic power available to accurately reproduce the most demanding music without distortion or compression. It can also operate with any AC mains voltage from 100V to 240V, and provides pure DC power to all the various stages of the C 268. This highly efficient supply also provides near perfect regulation of voltage across a wide range of conditions and provides a solid noise-free foundation for the amplifying stages.
The NAD C 268 uses a customized version of the proven Hypex UcD output stage. This allows for massive power with nearly immeasurable distortion and noise in the audible range. Every detail of this design has been carefully crafted and perfectly executed to wring out ever last drop of performance.
