Onkyo TX-8020 Stereo Receiver – B-Stock
If you’re looking to get the best possible two-channel audio performance on a limited budget—and something versatile enough to power audio from your TV, Blu-ray player, personal computer, and CD player via digital or analog inputs—then the Onkyo TX-8020 Stereo Receiver is for you. Onkyo’s WRAT serves up more than enough pure analog power to drive most compact bookshelf and floorstanding speakers, with discrete output stage circuitry and a high current, low-impedance drive effortlessly handling the most demanding loads. The sound quality is characteristic of the veteran hi-fi brand, with lively dynamics, a sweet and natural mid-range, and accurate timing for all kinds of music. And just like the cool vintage receivers in its genealogy, the Onkyo TX-8020 has bass, treble, and balance controls as well as speaker A/B posts for multi-room setups.
WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology)
The Onkyo TX-8020 Stereo Receiver features WRAT technology that uses low-negative-feedback circuit topology for accurate signal reproduction, improved dynamic signal-to-noise ratio, and better delivery of power peaks. The Onkyo TX-8020’s discrete stereo amplifier is rated at 50W x 2ch (8Ω, 20-20kHz, 0.08% THD).
The Onkyo TX-8020 offers independent Bass (+/-10dB @ 50Hz) & Treble (+/-10 @ 20kHz) control to fine-tune your music. You can also balance your music from left to right.
Analog Audio Inputs/Output
The TX-80520 is equipped with six analog audio inputs and one analog audio input. This receiver contains no digital inputs/outputs.
Included in the six analog audio inputs, is a Phono (MM) input with ground terminal.
A & B Speaker Terminals
The Onkyo TX-8020 stereo receiver is equipped with A & B speaker terminals to connect up to two pair of speakers. The receiver uses binding post connectors for the A & B speaker outputs. The binding posts are not 5-way because a plastic collar prevents their use with spade lugs; they will accept bare wire, pin connectors, and single banana plugs (spaced too far apart for dual bananas).
Note: If you’re using only one of the speaker sets (A or B), choose the 4Ω setting if each speaker’s impedance is 4Ω to less than 6Ω, or choose the 6Ω setting if each speaker’s impedance is 6Ω or more. If you’re using both of the speaker sets (A & B), choose the 4Ω setting if each speaker’s impedance is 8 to 16Ω.
The Onkyo TX-8020 stereo receiver is equipped with a mono subwoofer preamp output to connect a powered subwoofer.
When headphones are plugged into the full-size 1/4″ jack on the front-panel, the A & B main speakers are automatically muted.
The Onkyo TX-8020 stereo receiver features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, and preset tuning. You can store your favorite stations as presets for quick selection. You can store a combination of up to 40 of your favorite FM/AM radio stations as presets. You can then label each preset with a 10 character name. The Onkyo TX-8020 also lets you directly tune in AM/FM stations using its remote control.
IR Remote w/ RI Remote Control Jack
The included IR remote control operates this unit & compatible Onkyo cassette players and CD players. The 1/8″ RI remote control jack allows you to connect this receiver to compatible Onkyo components.
The display brightness has three settings; Dim, Dimmer, and Normal.
From the remote, you can set the unit to automatically turn off after as much as 90 minutes or as little as 10 minutes; choices are presented in 10 minute increments.
The stereo receiver will automatically go into Standby mode, if there is no operation for 30 minutes with no audio/video signal input.

Those looking for the ultimate in CD playback from an audiophile-grade component will be impressed with a high-precision, multi-bit D/A converter and 128 x oversampling. Others looking for convenience will thrill at the sight of 6-disc capability, 6 repeat modes, 40 track programming—and no worries about interruptions to your music, with the ability to change 5 discs while the last one is still playing. All will marvel at the crystal-clear playback, enhanced by our exclusive VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry), for a smoother sounding audio signal. Just as crucial to your sonic enjoyment is Direct Digital Path, a heavily shielded, high-quality cable that protects the delicate audio signal from noise emitted by the surrounding circuits. Housed in a sturdy chassis graced with a brushed aluminum front panel, the Onkyo DX-C390 is ready to provide hours of uninterrupted music—for the soundtrack to your life.
The ‘C390 not only plays regular CDs, but also your home-burned CD-Rs and CD-RWs, and even long-playing MP3 discs! This changer also sports a unique 6-disc carousel design that lets you change five discs while the sixth keeps playing. Next Selection lets you “cue up” the next song you want to hear without interrupting the song that’s currently playing, and the remote gives you easy control of your music from across the room — its direct disc and track access lets you quickly locate exactly the track you want to hear.
Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC)
The Onkyo DX-C390 uses Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry to remove stray pulse noise for a smoother, richer analog output signal.
Direct Digital Path
Direct Digital Path signal routing provides a shorter, cleaner path from the signal processing PC board to the digital outputs than typically found on other players. This direct signal path routing is used to prevent corruption of the signal by noise from the ICs and power supply.
This unit will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R, and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 1/level 2, Romeo, or Joliet formats. MP3 files with a sampling rate of 8-48 kHz and a bit-rate of 8-320 kbps are supported. Fixed bit-rate MP3 files are recommended, however, variable bit-rate MP3 files are supported. Each disc can have a maximum of 499 files and 99 folders.
You can exchange up to 5 discs while playing a sixth; once the drawer is open, 2 CDs can be changed, then you must use the Disc Skip button to remove the remaining three.
This feature allows you to choose the next track, folder, or disc for playback, without interrupting the current song playing.
