If you’re looking to get the best possible two-channel audio performance on a limited budget—and something versatile enough to power audio from your TV, Blu-ray player, personal computer, and CD player via digital or analog inputs—then the Onkyo TX-8020 Stereo Receiver is for you. Onkyo’s WRAT serves up more than enough pure analog power to drive most compact bookshelf and floorstanding speakers, with discrete output stage circuitry and a high current, low-impedance drive effortlessly handling the most demanding loads. The sound quality is characteristic of the veteran hi-fi brand, with lively dynamics, a sweet and natural mid-range, and accurate timing for all kinds of music. And just like the cool vintage receivers in its genealogy, the Onkyo TX-8020 has bass, treble, and balance controls as well as speaker A/B posts for multi-room setups.

WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology)

The Onkyo TX-8020 Stereo Receiver features WRAT technology that uses low-negative-feedback circuit topology for accurate signal reproduction, improved dynamic signal-to-noise ratio, and better delivery of power peaks. The Onkyo TX-8020’s discrete stereo amplifier is rated at 50W x 2ch (8Ω, 20-20kHz, 0.08% THD).

Tone Control

The Onkyo TX-8020 offers independent Bass (+/-10dB @ 50Hz) & Treble (+/-10 @ 20kHz) control to fine-tune your music. You can also balance your music from left to right.

Analog Audio Inputs/Output

The TX-80520 is equipped with six analog audio inputs and one analog audio input. This receiver contains no digital inputs/outputs.

Phono Input

Included in the six analog audio inputs, is a Phono (MM) input with ground terminal.

A & B Speaker Terminals

The Onkyo TX-8020 stereo receiver is equipped with A & B speaker terminals to connect up to two pair of speakers. The receiver uses binding post connectors for the A & B speaker outputs. The binding posts are not 5-way because a plastic collar prevents their use with spade lugs; they will accept bare wire, pin connectors, and single banana plugs (spaced too far apart for dual bananas).

Note: If you’re using only one of the speaker sets (A or B), choose the 4Ω setting if each speaker’s impedance is 4Ω to less than 6Ω, or choose the 6Ω setting if each speaker’s impedance is 6Ω or more. If you’re using both of the speaker sets (A & B), choose the 4Ω setting if each speaker’s impedance is 8 to 16Ω.

Subwoofer Pre-Out

The Onkyo TX-8020 stereo receiver is equipped with a mono subwoofer preamp output to connect a powered subwoofer.

Headphone Jack

When headphones are plugged into the full-size 1/4″ jack on the front-panel, the A & B main speakers are automatically muted.

AM/FM Tuner

The Onkyo TX-8020 stereo receiver features a built-in AM/FM tuner with manual, seek, and preset tuning. You can store your favorite stations as presets for quick selection. You can store a combination of up to 40 of your favorite FM/AM radio stations as presets. You can then label each preset with a 10 character name. The Onkyo TX-8020 also lets you directly tune in AM/FM stations using its remote control.

IR Remote w/ RI Remote Control Jack

The included IR remote control operates this unit & compatible Onkyo cassette players and CD players. The 1/8″ RI remote control jack allows you to connect this receiver to compatible Onkyo components.

Display Dimmer

The display brightness has three settings; Dim, Dimmer, and Normal.

Sleep Timer

From the remote, you can set the unit to automatically turn off after as much as 90 minutes or as little as 10 minutes; choices are presented in 10 minute increments.

Auto Standby

The stereo receiver will automatically go into Standby mode, if there is no operation for 30 minutes with no audio/video signal input.

Polk Audio MC60 6-1/2″ Round In-Ceiling Speakers – Pair

Polk Audio MC60 is Priced and Sold as a Pair

The Polk Audio MC60 6 1/2″ Speakers take practically invisible in-ceiling sound practically anywhere in your home, including the bathroom and transitional spaces like porches and sunrooms. The MC60 is easy to install, and with a 6 1/2-inch midwoofer and 3/4-inch aimable silk dome tweeter, the compact, basic MC60 delivers surprising performance without costing a bundle.

Experience rich, engaging sound from speakers that disappear into your room. Polk’s MC60 speakers, sold individually, install flush in your ceiling for a sleek, attractive look. The 3/4″ tweeter lets you aim the high frequencies for the clearest sound in your room. The 6-1/2″ woofer provides smooth bass and mid-bass. And this speaker’s moisture-resistant design means you can enjoy it in your kitchen, bathroom, sauna, or even outdoors, installed under the eaves.

Building a system

Install a pair of the MC60s for stereo music listening. These speakers can also work as the fronts, center, and surrounds in a surround sound system. The MC60s are voice-matched with the other MC in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, so you can mix and match.

MC Series: The Polk Audio MC Series in-wall/in-ceiling loudspeakers offer great built-in sound for multi-room listening. The MC Series features Dynamic Balance driver technology, an aimable tweeter, and polymer cone woofers, which ensures your music always sounds crisp and clear. The MC Series also uses infinite baffle tuning for excellent bass response, so you can install them in virtually any kind of wall.

Dynamic Balance Technology: Laser imaging technology allows Polk Audio engineers to see the entire vibrating surface of a driver and tweeter; they can actually see the resonance develop on the speaker cones-resonance that is the root cause of loudspeaker distortion. Being able to see the resonance develop, they then determine the Dynamic Balance of high-tech materials, geometry and construction that together effectively tune out the offending resonance. Exclusive Dynamic Balance Composite Material Technology delivers sound that is effortlessly clean and clear, even at lifelike volume levels.

Woofer: The Polk Audio MC60 in-ceiling speaker features a 6-1/2″ Dynamic Balance Polymer Composite Cone for smooth wide-range response with low distortion. The polymer composite cone provides excellent damping and bass response while resisting deterioration. For a smoother response and improved durability, each woofer uses a rubber surround.

Tweeter: The MC60 in-ceiling speaker uses a 3/4″ aimable silk dome tweeter with neodymium magnet for clear, detailed highs and excellent imaging even for off-axis listening positions. Aiming the tweeter toward your listening position improves imaging and detail.

Infinite Baffle Tuning: Infinite Baffle Tuning uses the virtual enclosure of in-wall/in-ceiling space for superior bass response.

Moisture-resistant: Durable, moisture-resistant materials allow you to install the speakers in bathrooms, kitchens, saunas, even under the eaves of an enclosed porch. (The speaker is not recommended for exposed outdoor use.)

Timbre-matched: The MC Series speakers are timbre matched to Polk Audio’s freestanding speakers, such as the Polk Monitor, TSi, and OWM series; just in case you need in-wall/in-ceiling surround speakers to match your freestanding fronts.

Mounting Options

Installation: The round shape and flush-design allow the MC60 to mimic the look of a recessed lighting fixture. Each speaker requires a cutout diameter of 8.1875″ and a depth of 3.9375″ behind the drywall. Each speaker frame has a 9.1875″ diameter. Once the holes are cut, each speaker is placed in the opening and the Rotating Cams are tightened, allowing you to secure each speaker to the drywall without any extra assembly. The cam extends 1.75″ deep from the mounting surface of the speaker and will accommodate up to 1.5″ drywall thickness. When the cams are rotated, each extends 0.875″ beyond the 8.1875″ cutout diameter. If you will not be mounting these speakers in drywall, make sure the wall or ceiling material can safely support the weight of the speakers before installation; each speaker weighs approximately 3.1 pounds.

Paintable: The grille and flange can be painted, allowing these speakers to match any decor.
