Onkyo TX-RZ740 9.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver
Onkyo TX-RZ740 9.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver. The receiver features Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatibility for object-based audio support. It outputs up to 100W of power per channel at 8 Ohms for room-filling sound. You can connect the receiver in a 9.2-channel setup or in a 5.2.4-channel setup for use in a Dolby Atmos or DTS:X object-based audio setup. AccuEQ Advance sound calibration tailors the sound to your room’s specific acoustics. Built-in Bluetooth connectivity lets you listen to music wirelessly from your favorite Bluetooth-capable devices.
The Onkyo TX-RZ740 is equipped with seven HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs. One HDMI output supports ARC for the reproduction of display-based audio, such as your TV’s built-in streaming apps. Onboard Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity allow you to connect the receiver to your network, enabling app control via the Onkyo TX-RZ740 Controller app or a variety of other network controllers. You can also control it with your Google Assistant-enabled device. The on-screen display via HDMI helps you connect your receiver quickly and easily.
THX Certified Select Theater-Reference Sound
THX Certified Select helps ensure your home theater has the high-volume sound experience as a commercial movie theater. To gain certification, amplifiers must pass THX benchmark tests covering nearly every aspect of audio performance. THX Certified Select components suit rooms where screen-to-seat viewing is roughly 10 to 12′ and room volume around 2000 cubic feet.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X Sound
These two sound technologies mix audio in 3D space using object-based encoding as opposed to channel-based to help create the effect of sound moving all around you. With 11.2-channel pre-outs and 11-channel processing, you can enjoy 3D sound with up to a 5.2.4- or 7.2.2-channel layout, or up to a 7.2.4-channel layout with an additional power amplifier. Dolby Surround and DTS Neural:X find localization cues in legacy stereo or multichannel soundtracks and upmix them to simulate 3D audio.
Dynamic Audio Amplification with RZ Series Build
DAA is designed to stabilize power delivery for accurate speaker control and enhanced dynamics. The High-Current Low-Noise Power Transformer and 10,000 ?F high-current smoothing capacitors help deliver power instantly while non-phase-shift amps reproduce a wide 5 Hz to 100 kHz spectrum. An extruded aluminum heat sink helps control the pitch of resonance frequencies, limiting mechanical noise. Behind the front panel, the digital boards are separate from the analog circuitry for enhanced musicality.
Technical Design Enhancements Help Enhance Sound
The TX-RZ740 has components designed to help control noise, boost driving power, and improve S/N performance. Its HDMI board features large, strong, well-finished grounds and short signal paths for clean and accurate A/V signals. Its SoC processor has its own board remote from audio signal paths to help reduce noise. Key aspects of the power supply line have been strengthened and upgraded to enhance driving power, which helps provide clearer separation and localization of instruments across a spacious soundstage.
SMART AV Receiver
SMART AV Receiver integrates Amazon Music, Pandora, Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, and TuneIn and supports multiroom audio with Works with Sonos (when connected to an optional Sonos Connect), AirPlay 2 (via a future firmware update), Chromecast built-in, DTS Play-Fi, and FlareConnect. Manage your music with just your voice via Siri (with an Apple HomePod) or the Google Assistant (with your Google Assistant-enabled speaker), enjoy the Sonos app, or use various Onkyo apps for simplified entertainment control around your home. You can also stream directly from your smartphone, laptop, or desktop computer via Chromecast built-in.
Just Add Speakers for Whole Home Audio
Initiate playback of different audio source in up to three rooms at once from your compatible smartphone via the Onkyo TX-RZ740 Controller app. Onkyo TX-RZ740 has two extra DACs to distribute unique or synced audio of different analog, network, Bluetooth, SPDIF, and HDMI audio sources (in select formats) via Zone 2 and Zone 3 outputs and supports a variety of speaker layouts, including 5.2.2-channel Main with powered Zone 2 audio, or 5.2-channel + Zone 2 + Zone 3 audio.
Quad-Core SoC with Wi-Fi 5 Support
The onboard quad-core System on a Chip (SoC) can perform multiple processing tasks at once. It provides network functionality with support for Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac, 2×2 MIMO).
Zone B / Zone 2 Line-Out
The Zone 2 line-out lets you connect a component with an analog RCA line input to audio sources connected to the receiver, including digital audio via HDMI, optical, or digital coaxial. Zone B line-out is well suited for connecting your wireless headphone transmitter to enjoy your programming without disturbing anyone else.
AccuEQ Advance 9-Point Room Acoustic Calibration with AccuReflex
AccuEQ Advance sets speaker parameters, such as size and distance, and sets their sound-pressure levels. It then selects the right subwoofer crossover setting and applies equalization to all your speakers. AccuReflex is designed to optimize object-based audio reproduction through Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, resolving phase-shift caused by the path differences between directional and non-directional sounds. These features combine to help improve localization and provide a 3D soundstage with vertical movement and overhead dimensionality.
Connections for Custom Integration
The TX-RZ740 features a 12V trigger output for an external component and an IR input for remote control range extension. It supports IP control, RS-232C, and OSD output for custom installers. An optional rackmount kit is also available.
IMAX Enhanced, Available via a Future Firmware Update
IMAX Enhanced certification designates that the TX-RZ740 meets certain audio and video performance criteria set by a committee of IMAX and DTS engineers and A/V technical specialists. These criteria include image, sound, scale, and content quality. Onboard IMAX calibrated modes are set and approved by Hollywood colorists to help provide enhanced picture and sound for HDR UHD content. This feature is scheduled to be made available via a future firmware update.
Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer, Available via a Future Firmware Update
When playing any Dolby format, engaging the Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer helps provide a more immersive listening experience by creating a virtual surround and height effect from traditional speaker layouts. This feature is scheduled to be made available via a future firmware update.
