The Muskoka Active is one of their new Reference grade, audiophile bookshelf speakers that sings to the gods of acoustics. The ultra-dense 34-inch solid birch enclosure is made from historic old-growth timber reclaimed from Muskoka Region waterways.

This ultra-dense “Riverwood” imparts superior tone, and the intricate grain patterns and rich colour are breathtaking. The new Muskoka series Reference bookshelf sleek design is available in two configurations (active and passive) and was created by award-winning industry professionals with over 100 years of combined experience.

Their 7″ audiophile grade mid-bass woofer is perfectly blended with their new Air Motion Tweeter to provide maximum soundstage with organic tonal sophistication. To ensure perfect detail resolution, these Reference Bookshelf speakers use their custom reference cross over network with impedance control. The Muskoka Active speakers have the only solid wood cabinet on the market that outperforms traditional MDF. The front panel has been reinforced with Riverwood Acoustics’ proprietary anchoring system to ensure zero baffle movement even during maximum music playback.

The powered or active version systems include an internal high power dual channel 250W ultra-low distortion bookshelf level stereo configuration to fill the space with sound and style. The amplifier utilizes a modern ultra-low distortion Class D amplifier with a high resolution feedback network. The super-efficient and cool-running amplifier has dual audio source inputs with automatic switching technology for Bluetooth 5.0 with Apt-X technology or stereo RCA inputs for easy connection to an external device such as a turntable or CD player without the need for any additional components. This system’s design is so straightforward that no external remote control is required. Within seconds, you can set up, auto-connect and play stereo music!

The integrated amplifier’s vintage design pays homage to the golden age of hi-fi and includes LED-illuminated left and right VU meters. It also has AirPlay 2, two-way aptX HD Bluetooth, HDMI eARC, hi-res multi-room streaming, the ability to decode MQA studio master recordings, and Dirac Room Correction. A dedicated headphone amplifier and phono stage are additional inputs and outputs. It has a high-resolution audiophile-grade DAC and is powered by the most recent NAD HybridDigital amplifier, which is rated at 100 watts per channel of Full Disclosure Power.

Welcoming the Future

The C 3050 features the most advanced iteration of NAD’s modular design construction technology. By putting an MDC2 module into a slot at the rear of the component, owners can add new features and functions with MDC2. MDC2 has an entirely new architecture that permits two-way communication between the host component and the module. The MDC2 BluOS-D, an optional upgrade for the C 3050, offers two cutting-edge features: BluOS high-resolution multi-room music streaming and Dirac Live room correction.

Tuning the Environment

The listening room itself is the weakest link in most sound systems but Dirac Live allows the C 3050 to overcome it. Dirac Live plays test tones via your speakers while utilizing a calibrated microphone and a software running on a smart device or desktop computer. It then analyzes the results and builds filters to fix issues like standing waves and unwanted reflections. You’ll experience significantly better bass definition, improved clarity and tone correctness, and superior imaging when Dirac Live is activated. Dirac Live functions on all sources linked to the C 3050 because of MDC2’s two-way connections.

A Musical World

The MDC2 BluOS-D in the C 3050 connects to your home network by Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet and provides you with access to almost all of the music ever recorded through the acclaimed BluOS multi-room music management system. You can cue up music from more than 20 well-known streaming services using the simple-to-use BluOS software, including those that provide lossless and high-res audio, such Amazon Music Ultra HD, Deezer, Qobuz, and Tidal. The C 3050 offers high-res audio up to 24-bit/192kHz, much as all BluOS-capable products. Additionally, it has MQA decoding and rendering capabilities enabling Tidal playback that is of studio quality. BluOS additionally enables you to play music from your personal digital library and gives you access to thousands of internet radio stations.

Apple AirPlay 2 is supported by the MDC2 BluOS-D, allowing you to stream audio from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac to the C 3050. Tidal Connect and Spotify Connect are also supported. The apps for those services allow you to choose music, which can then be instantly transferred for listening on the C 3050. Utilizing Apple Siri, Google Assistant, or Amazon Alexa, you can even use voice control to control playing (via AirPlay 2). Additionally, an IR remote control is provided.

Surrounding Music

The C 3050 integrated amplifier can be used with the MDC2 BluOS-D to create a whole-home audio system with up to 64 zones, each having its own source and volume control. You can join zones together and play the same music simultaneously, or you can play different music in each zone separately. The BluOS-D may broadcast music from any source connected to the C 3050 to BluOS-enabled components in different rooms thanks to MDC2’s bidirectional architecture.

Everything is Connected

The C 3050 is capable of accommodating all of your source components because to its extensive array of digital and analogue inputs. Vinyl enthusiasts will value the C 3050’s MM phono stage’s extreme low noise level. An HDMI eARC interface allows the C 3050 to function as the hub of a two- or 2.1-channel home theatre system for watching movies and TV shows. Line-level analogue, coaxial digital, and optical digital inputs are also available on the C 3050.

The C 3050 contains two speaker terminal sets, a subwoofer output, and a separate headphone amplifier. Additionally, it has two-way Bluetooth aptX HD, allowing you to stream music from a mobile device to the amplifier or from the amplifier to a pair of wireless headphones. The C 3050 can be used just as a preamp and a separate power amplifier can be added thanks to the pre-out/main-in connections. There is an IR input and a 12V trigger for bespoke integrators.
