MantelMount RBE10 Recess Box Extenders requires stud mounting. But what if the placement of the box requires partial removal of a stud? The remaining studs on either side are too far for the RB100's braces to reach. The RBE10's mounting extenders are 36" long, letting you stud-mount your recess box assembly. In an existing wall, sometimes a stud is in the way and needs to cut to make room for the MantelMount RB100 Recess Box (sold separately). The remaining studs in the wall might be too far apart for the horizontal braces that comes standard with MM340, MM540, or MM700 MantelMount (all sold separately). The MantelMount RBE10 Recess Box Extenders easily solve this problem by reaching up to 36" to align with the nearest studs in the wall. The covers that are included with the RB100 can still be used to cover the MantelMount RBE10 Extenders and painted to match the wall.
