Klipsch KI-396-SMA-II Black 15" Commercial Multi-Angle 2-Way Loudspeaker - Each
The Klipsch KI-396-SMA-II is Priced and Sold as Each, For a Pair Add Two to Your Cart.
The Klipsch KI-396-SMA-II has incredible output capability with exceptional low-distortion clarity. The compact 22.5° symmetrical, trapezoidal design houses a 15” high-excursion cast frame heavy-duty woofer, a large 3” titanium high-frequency compression driver and a 90°x60° Tractrix® "Mumps" Horn. These horns exhibit improved coverage control than earlier generations of Tractrix Horns. The Klipsch KI-396-SMA-II permanent install speaker has 16 suspension points (4 per side) for flexible mounting and rigging bar compatibility and includes an internal high current full-range crossover. Klipsch uses a modified Tractrix equation horn geometry on its distributed audio speakers which gains the benefits of three distinct horn types and allows the sound wave to release from the horn with minimal reflections back into the horn.
This, combined with the reduced depth of the Tractrix horn in relation to others, further reduces distortion and improves frequency response and overall sound clarity, even at low background volumes. Klipsch recommends that power provided to the speakers not exceed the values indicated in the specifications by more than 3dB. If continuous power or thermal ratings are exceeded, the internal protective KLIP circuit will shut down the high- or high/mid-frequency sections. These will remain shutdown until input power is reduced significantly. The KLIP circuit monitors continuous average power. Although unlikely, it is possible to create a situation where extreme transient signals could damage component diaphragms before triggering the KLIP protection circuit. (Klipsch KI-396-SMA-II does not feature KLIP circuit driver protection) USE CAUTION WITH HIGH POWER! Damage can also occur due to distortion generated from underpowering, i.e. overdriving with too little power. Klipsch recommends that amplifier headroom be based on values 3dB above the maximum speaker power ratings, or twice the published numerical power rating of the speaker.
