The Hertz ML1650.3 Legend has a 36 mm mobile voice coil for exceptional power handling and thermal stability, even on tracks with a lot of bass frequencies. To arrive at these conclusions, the R&D team conducted extended in-car voicing sessions after developing many prototypes using the FEA simulation method and testing them using a variety of Klippel® suite measurements.
This dimension provides the finest balance of power handling and high frequency response. The cone geometry was studied extensively using FEA models and measurements with the Klippel Scan Vibrometer, all of which led to the development of the V-cone® profile. To replicate the lowest frequency spectrum in subwoofers and woofers, the cone must move a significant volume of air, therefore it is forced to undertake extended excursions, much like a piston. The V-cone® design prevents the cone from deforming during its journey, ensuring that the "piston" operates in the proper position, increasing acoustic pressure production.
